Base Line Residences - LOCATION

Base Line Residences is located on Juana Osmeña Street, along General Maxilom Avenue and Fuente Osmeña. It is inside the Base Line Complex which is vast expanse measuring around 1.4 hectares.

The complex itself is a major go-to for many Cebuanos. The Base Line Gym is known for its martial arts classes and rock climbing area. The Base Line restaurant is a favorite among families especially for large gatherings. There is also a tennis court, and during the much-awaited Sinulog season, street parties are held here.

Cebu City itself is a vibrant city. It is a center of culture, history and commerce in the region. In fact, almost 80% of the Philippines’ shipping companies do business in Cebu City. It is also a top destination for business process outsourcing companies. And as seen in the quick rise of vertical developments like Base Line Residences, Cebu City is also fast becoming a real estate haven in the region, not just for locals, but for expats as well.

For parents, choosing a good school is not going to be problem. Cebu City is home to top academic institutions for kids of all ages. Some of these schools include St. Theresa’s College, Colegio de la Immaculada Concepcion, Cebu Eastern College, Cebu International School, Cebu Technological University, Cebu Institute of Technology – University, Southwestern University, University of Cebu and Ateneo de Cebu. Cebu City also has 23 national high schools, 68 public elementary schools and 28 night schools plus a public library.

The University of Visayas is the first school to be granted a university status and it is also located in Cebu. It offers medical courses like nursing, dentistry and pharmacy. The University of San Carlos is another top university in the city. The country’s premier state university, University of the Philippines, also has a campus in Cebu, located near Lahug. Run by Augustinian Recollects, the University of San Jose-Recoletos has two campuses in the city. For those taking up courses in health sciences, a top choice is the Cebu Doctor’s University.

The surrounding area is close to churches (Church of Our King and Iglesia ni Cristo); banks (Bank of the Philippine Island, Sterling Bank, Metrobank, PBCom and Union Bank); restaurants (Sunburst, Handuraw, Jollibee, Greenwich, Gimik, The Beat, YOU Restobar, Casanova); and retail centers (Ayala Center, Mango Square Mall, One Mango Avenue, Fooda). There is also a Taoist temple, located in Beverly Hills Subdivision, open for worshippers and tourists.

For tourists and locals alike, Cebu City is known for its cultural destinations. It is home to many historical landmarks like the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, also known as Church of the Holy Child. It was built out of hew stone, and it is the first church to be established in Cebu. It was declared a basilica in 1965. Today, it houses the Philippines’ oldest relic—the figure of the Santo Niño de Cebu. Another major go-to for tourists, especially Catholics, is the Magellan’s Cross, named after Portuguese explorer who arrived in the Philippines in 1521. For those who want to know what it felt like living in the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines, they can visit Fuerza de San Pedro, also known as Fort San Pedro.

One of the biggest celebrations that Cebu is known for is the Sinulog Festival in honor Santo of Niño. It is celebrated as a massive dance ritual that alludes to the current of the river, thus its name. For music lovers, there is the Cebu Reggae Festival and the Lifedance and Sinulog Invasion which are rave music festivals held before the actual Sinulog.
A major perk of living in Cebu City is living in proximity to beautiful beaches. Whereas big city residents need to travel far just for a taste of some sun, sand and sea, Cebu City residents can easily enjoy the beach life.

Malapascua Island offers white sandy beaches and an opportunity to do shark diving, for those adventurous enough to try it. Bounty Beach is a postcard-perfect island paradise with palm trees and turquoise waters. There are resorts and restaurants nearby so it is perfect for a quick getaway or a much-awaited long vacation. Another must-visit for beach lovers is Paradise Beach on Bantayan Island. It’s a little out of way and a bit more secluded unlike other beaches but it is perfect for those who want to enjoy some semblance of privacy while communing with nature. About half an hour from Bantayan is Virgin Island, and as the name implies, it is a sight to behold, with its untouched natural beauty—from the white sand to the clear waters.

A little down South is Sumilon Island which is a favorite among tourists because of its tantalizing blue waters. Visitors can opt for a day trip or spend the night in the island’s only resort—Sumilon Bluewater. Guests have the option of staying in one of the rooms or ‘glamping’ (camping minus the grit). Sumilon Island is near Oslob, known for its whale sharks. Another top choice is the island of Moalboal. Its two main beaches are Panagsama and White Beach. This is a great spot for snorkeling because there is a reef that runs along this island, and there is a lot of underwater life to be seen and discovered. It is also a favorite among divers.
